Naan Bread

Believe it or not, I've never actually eaten a curry before. Now we live in Birmingham it's probably fitting I finally break the curry curse! I'm not a fan of spicy food so was pleased to discover an extra mild curry sauce with no chilli (Sharwoods Chicken Tikka). We had it with Quorn chicken pieces, onion, cauliflower, orange pepper and pilau rice. Delicious.

We've wanted to try making flat breads for a while so decided we'd make our own naan bread. It was a fantastically simple recipe of 3 ingredients - plain flour, lukewarm water and natural yoghurt.

250g plain flower
3 tablespoons natural yoghurt
115ml lukewarm water
1/2 teaspoon salt

Mix together into a rough looking dough, cover with clingfilm and leave in a warm place to ferment for an hour. Heat the grill to the highest setting and bake on a wire rack until puffed up and brown spots appear - took approx 3 minutes either side in our grill. We flavoured ours with a brushing of melted garlic butter with coriander (we used the dried herb).

A very quick and simple recipe and one which will become a firm favourite in our house I'm sure. We are slowly but surely shunning mass manufactured breads!
