Hi everyone!
I've been promising a blog post for ages and ages and just not got round to it, so there's going to be a few cropping up in the next couple of hours. It's sort of a Friday work-avoidance thing, but that's another story entirely.
After working out how to properly coax my yeast into action, and getting myself a snazzy new loaf tin, I finally made a decent looking loaf of bread. Check it out!
It even sliced into bread that actually made sandwiches...
It did have one small issue though, and that was that it was ever so slightly dense. I'm still getting used to this new shape of tin and I haven't quite got the hang of when it's actually finished it's second rise. I need to be braver about it and wait for it to be properly climbing out of the tin! Either that, or make slightly less dough? I dunno. I'll work it out at some point! I'm planning to bake a loaf this weekend for next week's sandwiches, so I'll let you know how it turns out.
I've even bought a new non-stick loaf tin. Haven't used it yet, but here it is still in its wrapping:
Basically, it's exactly the same as the old one, but non-stick. Had a bit of a sticky loaf disaster the other weekend, so decided it was probably worth it!
